Natural remedies for constipation…

If you are constipated, there could possibly be several good reasons why . And as a way to fix this dilemma, you will need to rule out the rare cases and ensure that your constipation is a result of diet and lifestyle.  In rare situations, constipation could wind up being a side-effect of a medication or some sort of ”medical condition”. The good news is that if it isn’t triggered by a side effect of a prescription or a disease, getting rid of constipation could possibly be as easy as adjusting your eating habits

Diabetes and those with kidney & thyroid issues can be affected by constipation

Over half of the world’s population of diabetics have chronic constipation.   The reason is simple;  Diabetics, with their blood sugar spikes actually damage the nerves in their intestinal walls. This causes the food to either pass too quickly causing diarrhea or too slowly causing constipation.

Prescription drugs could cause constipation

Likewise, if you are taking any prescription drugs, you may want to carefully read the side effects of them. In a lot of drugs, diarrhea and constipation are two of the most common symptoms. Once again, this is usually due to the nerves in the intestines being adversely affected by the changes.

Constipation can also be caused by the foods you eat…

Fortunately, the chances are better that you are constipated because of diet.   If you eat a lot of meat, then you multiply the risk of being constipated.  Vegetarians are rarely constipated…

Fiber, which is found in almost all plant products, is the reason. And if your everyday diet consists mainly of meats and potatoes, then your fiber intake could be seriously lacking. Studies have shown that just in the last 100 years, our fiber intake has decreased by nearly 50%  The recommended fiber intake for an adult is 30 grams of fiber.  The reality is that even that may be too little .  Double the fiber recommendation after you have gotten accustomed to eating more fiber.

Lack of water can cause constipation

Even being slightly dehydrated can cause constipation . Water is essential to your body to pass toxins and waste out of your body. If you are dehydrated, the stools will stay in your body longer and come out harder.   While the common thought is to drink 10 glasses of water a day, you should really be drinking more .  If you weigh 100 pounds, you should be getting 50 ounces of water a day .

Lack of exercise could cause constipation

Most Americans don’t get anywhere near the amount of exercise they need . Exercise not only makes you lose weight, it also stimulates the body. .  Most marathon runners can’t make it through the race without in the very least feeling like they need to go to the bathroom.

If you are suffering from constipation, the good news is that it is usually an easy fix. And as long as diabetes or other similar modern day diseases aren’t the cause, constipation can be naturally fixed simply with a lifestyle change .  If you need constipation help, chances are good that it will all boil down to your diet.
