Colon Cleansing – Healthy or Harmful?

A colon cleansing procedure is done by brining in a gush of water to the large intestine to wash away waste and other toxins. In concept, it is simple; but is it healthy?

Because our large intestine is very important in eliminating organic waste from our body, we should see to it that it is as healthy as possible. The colon is shaped like a letter ”M”, about 4 ½ feet long and 2 inches wide, ending at the anus. It is just below the small intestine, which is found between the live and the stomach.

An integral part of our digestive tract, the colon is responsible for momentarily holding waste before it finally exits the body. So when the colon is compromised, consequently the body will have problems getting rid of the stored waste. Furthermore, a contaminated colon can potentially lead to other medical conditions such as digestive disorders, constipation, diarrhea, skin irritations (acne), and fatigue.

In essence, colon cleansing is safe if done properly, all the more if the equipments and the technology used are up-to-date. Before, enemas were used to cleanse the colon. But several researches has shown that enemas caused several colon cleansing safety issues. However, it was found that enemas can cause several cleansing safety concerns. Enemas are different from bowel irrigation in essence enemas typically just clean only the lower 20% of the colon. That means that the procedure is not as effective as modern colon hydrotherapy.

When it comes to cleansing the colons, patients have three major concerns.

. First, does it hurt? Well, medically speaking colon cleansing is not at all painful.

? Second, how deep will the ”thing” be inside me? And although it is done deeper than an enema, it is completely safe.

. And third, they want to know if there are risks for infection. It is not harmful, and if modern equipments are used, a germ-free colon cleansing environment is assured.

The advancement of technology in the field of medicine has allowed a much safer colon cleansing experience, and as long as it is administered by a hydrotherapy specialist, the procedure will most likely be a success.
